Round 1 Grant Schemes Open for 2009
Assistance now available - Community Grants Scheme (CGS)
The first round of funding of CGS for 2009 is now open. Community based groups including local interest groups, environmental groups, and individuals are encouraged to apply for support.
Previous CGS funded projects have:
- created a demonstration site for the reuse of materials and provided permanent signage describing recycling processes on site
- assisted in the purchase of equipment to help improve and expand existing successful community recycling services
- provided community environmental education courses that empower participants with the knowledge and skills to improve the waste management practices of their communities
Please note: Funding limits for CGS projects are $20,000 per project.
Applications must be received by 5pm Friday 29th May 2009
No late submissions will be accepted.

Assistance available - Strategic Waste Initiatives Scheme (SWIS)
The first round of SWIS funding for 2009 is now open.
Business and industry, local government, community groups and individuals are encouraged to apply for funding.
The SWIS was established to help our State achieve the vision of 'Towards a Zero Waste Environment'.
Funding will be provided for initiatives which are consistent with the Statement of Strategic Direction for Waste Management in Western Australia and the Waste Authority’s ‘Priority Areas for Funding’
Priority Areas for Funding:
- Organics
- Construction and Demolition Waste Recovery and Recycling
- Plastics
- Used Tyres
- Hazardous Waste from Households
How to apply
The Waste Authority is interested in applications that focus on the ‘Priority Areas for Funding’ and complement its previous or current work. Applicants must apply using the prescribed form and specify the amount of funding support required.
Applicants must read the ‘Guidelines for Applicants’ document and speak to a Waste Management Branch Project Coordinator about their project before they submit their application on the prescribed form.
An electronic copy of the application form will be provided to applicants once contact has been established.
