Assistance now available - Community Grants Scheme (CGS)

The second round of funding of CGS for 2010 is now open.

Community based groups including local interest groups, environmental groups, and individuals are encouraged to apply for support.

Previous CGS funded projects have:

• Developed, in partnership with their local Shire, a purpose built, fully equipped community based Recycling Centre to ensure that a higher volume of waste is recycled and kept out of landfill.



• Educated the Deaf community about prevention, recovery and disposal to ensure that they are competent, resourceful and able to contribute to the wider community using up-to-date information that has been delivered in their first language Australian Sign Language (Auslan).



• Provided a storybook and CD of songs that approach the areas of waste prevention, recovery and disposal. The story and CD’s message aims to reach young children and families.

Funding limits for CGS projects are $20,000 per project.

Applicants should submit an application which briefly, and in general terms, describes their ideas, issues or proposals and the extent and/or type of support required.

From the applications submitted, the Waste Authority will select those which are considered to be a good fit with the current focus areas and which complement the work being undertaken by the Authority itself.

Applications must be received by 5pm Friday 10th September 2010 No late submissions will be accepted.
