Landfill Levy Forum Transcript and Submissions

The Landfill Levy Forum was held on the 9th September 2008 during the Waste and Recycle Conference, so the Waste Authority could canvass the views of stakeholders concerning the application of the levy to Category 63 Landfill Sites (Inert Landfills). The forum was facilitated by the Chairman of the Waste Authority, Barry Carbon, who also provided introductory comments, and included short presentations from stakeholders as well as questions and comments from the audience.

The following stakeholders provided 10 minute presentations;

Robert Atkins – Director of Environment and Regulation Division – DEC
Bruce Bowman – State President – WMAA
Mark Batty – Executive Manager ,Environment and Waste, WALGA
Rob Sippe – Managing Director – Eclipse Resources
Adrian Lester – Manager – C & D Recycling

During the forum Barry Carbon announced that the Waste Authority would take submissions on this issue.

The Waste Authority of Western Australia have since made decisions regarding the Landfill Levy that can be viewed from the Waste Authority special meeting minutes held on the 22nd October 2008 and 18th February 2009.
