COMPOST WESTERN AUSTRALIA

Who are we?

Compost WA is a not-for-profit, member driven organisation that is affiliated to Compost Australia and is a sub group of the Waste Management Association of Australia (WMAA) Branch. Compost WA represents, promotes and supports the Recycled Organics (RO) sector of the Waste Management industry in Western Australia.

Compost WA’s objective is to promote and support sustainable growth and development of the recycled organics sector in Western Australia.

To ensure this vision is attained, Compost WA work and strive to achieve the following four key strategies:


         1. Develop a strong organisation by:
  • The forming of a body to represent the recycled organics sector in WA
  • Being recognised as the peak body for the recycled organics sector in WA
  • Communicating widely and effectively


  • 2. Maximise market development by:
  • Developing a strategic marketing plan
  • Developing knowledge and educating the market
  • Securing funding


  • 3. Develop clear quality standards by:
  • Implementing minimum standards to protect public and environmental (resource) health
  • Developing guidelines for composting
  • Promoting continuous development
  • Justifying and promoting industry self regulation


  • 4. Develop and promote policy by:
  • Establishing the use of recycled organics as a priority for government, via the developing the case for the recycled organics sector and promoting the recycling of organics.
  • Ensuring that recycled organics considerations are built into future planning issues

How to Join

To be eligible for membership of Compost WA, you or you organisation must firstly be a member of the Waste Management Association of Australia (WMAA).
