Hot Topic Archives: Announcement of the Waste Authority Members.

The Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Act 2007 (the "WARR Act") and the Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Levy Act 2007 ("WARR Levy Act") were passed by Parliament and given Royal Assent by the Governor of Western Australia in December 2007.

Part 2 of the WARR Act sets up a new statutory Waste Authority to drive waste strategic planning and policy development in WA, and to administer the Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Account.

Members of the Authority were appointed on 6 May 2008, and the Authority is expected to formally commence business by July 2008. The Authority members are Mr Barry Carbon OA (Chair); Ms Jan Grimoldby (Deputy Chair); Ms Carolyn Jakobsen; Mr Marcus Geisler, and Professor Paul Hardisty.
