Waste and Recycle Conference 2009:
The business of Risk or just plain Risky Business?

The Department of Environment and Conservation is again co-hosting the
annual Waste & Recycle Conference with the Western Australian Local
Government Association and the Waste Management Association of Australia.

This annual Conference is being held at the Esplanade Hotel, Fremantle
from 15 – 18 September 2009.

The last year has seen some radical changes for the waste and recycling industry, from all time high prices for recycled commodities to a 50–70% drop in the price paid for the same commodities.

This challenging situation has lead the community, industry and government to re-examine how we value waste and recycling (economically and socially) and to consider the nature of risk within our industry and how we plan, manage, understand and account for it.

The Conference Committee understands the impact the current global market is having on the waste industry and therefore we have reviewed our operating costs and the price of attending has been significantly reduced. We will continue to provide the highest level of presentations and workshops which still makes Waste & Recycle the ‘must attend’ conference.

The Conference brings together internationally renowned Keynote Speakers, delegates from around the State and country to exchange ideas and information, and consider solutions to the burning questions facing the waste industry.

The Waste Authority is a Gold Sponsor and is proud to be associated with this major event. The Conference program includes:
