Strategic Waste Initiatives Scheme (SWIS)

Assistance now available
Business and industry, local government, community groups and individuals are encouraged to apply for support available through the Strategic Waste Initiatives Scheme (SWIS).

The SWIS is a broad support scheme, where funding is only one element of assistance provided and has been established to help our State achieve the vision of 'Towards Zero Waste in Western Australia'. Support will be provided for initiatives which are consistent with the Waste Authority’s Statement of Strategic Direction for Waste Management in Western Australia.

The Authority’s preferred project areas and Statement of Strategic Direction are available at www.zerowastewa.com.au, or contact the Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) on 6467 5318 to obtain copies of the Strategic Direction document.

How to apply
The Waste Authority will consider applications that focus on current priority areas and complement the work being undertaken by the Authority. Applicants should use the prescribed form and specify the amount of funding or type of support required. Applicants must read the ‘Guidelines for Applicants’ document and speak to a Waste Management Branch Project Coordinator before submitting their application.

Community Grants Scheme (CGS)

Funding now available
Community based groups including local interest groups, environmental groups, and individuals are encouraged to apply for a grant through the Community Grants Scheme (CGS).

The CGS was established to assist our State to achieve the vision, “Towards Zero Waste in Western Australia”.

Funding will be provided for successful local, community-scale projects that are consistent with the Waste Authority’s Statement of Strategic Direction for Waste Management in Western Australia.

The Statement of Strategic Direction and current priority focus areas are available from www.zerowastewa.com.au. Go to the ’Policy and Evaluation’ section of ‘Our Work’, or contact the Department of Environment and Conservation on 6467 5318 to obtain copies of the documents.

How to apply
Applicants should submit an application that briefly and in general terms describes their ideas, issues or proposals and specify the amount of funding required.

The Waste Authority will select the applications that are considered to be a good fit with current focus areas and complement the work being undertaken by the Authority itself.
