Communication
Moving toward a zero waste society relies on individual responsibility and an understanding of how we can make a difference.
As part of the new approach to waste in Western Australia, the Waste Management Board is implementing a broad waste communication strategy, including steps to:
- keep priority waste issues high on the public agenda
- support and encourage sustainable consumption
- engage the wider community in waste reduction.
This is being achieved through:
- research of local, national and international policy, technology, data and achievements
- schools, online tools, published data, events, an e-newsletter, and other means
- providing a comprehensive and fresh web site for waste information
- broad communication campaigns through a variety of mass media.
Waste Management Board Communication Strategy 2005-06
The Communication Strategy supports implementation of the Strategic Direction 2004. Its broad aims are to create a common level of understanding of waste in our society, and facilitate significant positive change in attitudes and behaviour about waste across business and industry, community and government.
For further information about the Communications Strategy, please contact the Manager, Communications and Media Relations, Office of the Waste Authority by email.
